November Showers


Arrows through the black,
Destinations unknown,
Purpose only to shine,
I watch them burn,
From the bed of a pick-up,

The only heat is our bodies,
And the blanket,
The world is dark,
Mysterious,
Cold,
November,

Leaving trails of ash,
They are gone,
Flying,
Falling,
Dying,

Like you and I,
Destination unknown,
Purpose to shine,
I feel us fall,
Reminiscent of the stars,
Loveless,
Lifeless,
Lonely,

Separate in humanity,
Together now,
For only a while,
Before you drop left,
And I right,

Our hands are clasped,
You kiss my head,
I kiss you back,
Linger,
Wish,
Stand,
Giving you the ring,
And walk away,

Leaving trails in the frost,
I am gone,

Soaring,
Rising,
Living,
On my own
